Still on chapter 5. hooks describes that love and fear are opposites. One who fears cannot feel/embrace love fully. hooks continues to explain how fear is being pushed on us as a society through media. Violence is always a topic of conversation and now feels it is desensitising us as we constantly see it happen everywhere. We need to love one another, ethically, for each others well being. We would thrive together.

Chapter 5: spirituality has been becoming less and less and consumerism has been on the rise. People associate their importance with the objects they have and look down on those who don’t have much and call them poor. We need to see each other as equals. Those who contradict their spirituality and pair it with classism, racism, etc. God loves all his children and we should to. Love is the bridge that connects us.

Still on chapter 4, hooks states the importance of loving yourself before loving others same as to not expect love from others if you dont love yourself. She also talks about how you should work in a job that you love and the money will follow because doing a job you hate and only doing it for the money doesnt pay off in the way you think. It can affect your self love.

Chapter 4: discusses the importance of self love. It is important to love oneself to have a strong foundation for everything they do. Self assertiveness can contribute to having positive self esteem. There is a double standard between the genders when it comes to this. Men who speak up for themselves are proving their manhood but when women do it, its seen as undesirable and bad. Women must stand up for themselves.
