My wise girlfriend convinced me to DNF. Something feels off. Everyone is v. polite and conflict is quickly smoothed over (except for the 10-page-long “looking for a bathroom” bit.) Feels like the “good” characters are bland and lack depth; Dr. Thompson is complicated, but don’t worry, all her bad behavior is immediately excused. I’m shocked at its high goodreads rating and high-ish number of reviews.
