This is my first attempt at reading a collection of short stories. It was a bleak start. As I read, I gain insight on Carver’s common themes within these stories: The relationship between human connection and alcohol. I went in blind, but Gazebo has redeemed my prior judgements. I hope this collection can continue to surprise me and offer more.
