I had meant to write an update earlier, around the middle or the beginning of this book, but it's too short. Now here we are at 81% ;-). However, I feel as if I have seen all of Stroud's tricks in writing mysteries. He's using the same method here, too, unfortunately. The classic "turns out that the innocent-ish guy was involved!" and "Lockwood's figured it all out!" Appealing the first time. Second? Not so much.

Can I just say that the tone of this series changed way too fast?? In the first book I was perfectly satisfied with the found-family dynamic among the trio. And now the second book is suggesting a third-wheel/love triangle?? Poor George, he doesn't stand a chance. And I'm pretty mad because that's not what I was here for. I was told that THERE WAS NO THIRD-WHEEL/LOVE TRIANGLE when I opened this book.
