Things are going too well too soon. I wonder what the third act breakup will entail, as at this moment, I see no reason for conflict

Dahlia hey, it appears you have some experience with romance books. I'm basically an anti-romantic, but it's because I haven't found something to catch my interest. I tend to like slow burns, like the slowest of burns, yearing and all that. nothing sweet, i prefer tragedy, angst, the lot. any suggestions???

I used to read a lot of romance, but 99% of what I enjoy falls into YA or sweet, low-spice rom-coms, like: Better Than the Movies, Beg, Borrow, or Steal, As Long As the Lemon Trees Grow, or Katherine Center’s The Bodyguard and The Rom-Commers.
When it comes to deeply compelling romance, it's usually a subplot in fantasy or dystopian series like An Ember in the Ashes, This Woven Kingdom, or The Hunger Games. Lately, I’ve also gotten into romance webtoons like Seasons of Blossom.
I want to read more emotionally complex romances, but I usually treat the genre as a quick palate cleanser between heavier books. The closest I’ve gotten to that balance is probably Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez.
Hopefully this reply is not all over the place 😭😂
