I just audibly said “what the fuck” while reading this latest letter from Natalie’s dad. This book is sad as fuck. Possible 5 star prediction. So far, this is my favorite of Jackson’s work. We’ll see how it ends. I expect it to get sadder… Wish I had been annotating, but alas.

I've read quite a bit from Jackson, and while I wouldn't consider her a favorite author, I always find her works interesting and can acknowledge her influence on horror and writing. So far this might be her darkest/heaviest story. TW for heavily implied sexual assault. The end of that first chapter was rough, and this poor girl's parents suck and are a mess.
