Thankfully Edmund has arrived back and given fanny another horse to replace her grey pony that passed, Fanny’s life is not great when he’s away as her aunts are rather neglectful of her needs..

Fanny’s character development is interesting. I feel for her situation: her longing for her brother William, her comfort found in her cousin Edmund, the way she is in a constant reminder of her place and inferiority to her female cousins and her being the one endless topic of conversation in the drawing room.

I’ve reached the second chapter and I’m enjoying the book so far..
