I loved Stephen Fry’s wit, humor, & attention to detail! I’ll definitely be listening/reading to more of his Greek myth series. I think it’s cool that he narrates his own writing for the audio book! This was 15.5 hrs & I enjoyed all of it! I liked the care he treated the more sensitive topics with, plus how he discussed female characters & same sex pairings/couples. <3

I like how Fry set up the narrative in such a chronological, generational order. It’s logical & not uncommon to do a myth retelling in this fashion, but I think the clear distinction between the rise & fall of each generation/race gives a lot of context. I also like how Fry includes quick explanations of how we get certain modern/common use words from Ancient Greek names. My favorite was Thalassa > thalassaphobia

This is great so far! The wording is accessible & even humorous! I think both longtime fans of Greek mythology & newcomers would enjoy this. The Bee Movie joke made me laugh. I’m glad Stephen Fry is also a Hera fan; I’m her #1 apologist. He gives good screen time to both male & female figures & described women in an equitable way (yay!)
