Oh, this is making me so mad 😂
Why is Mavis so no dimensional? Is she supposed to have BPD or is she just poorly written? Her father wouldn't have recognized her as a lunatic, because she acts so normally, aside from the violence. And if he does, why does he not do something about her? Wouldn't a man at that time have been *more keen* to marry a girl like this off, so she was her husband's problem?

-For once, I'd love a Dickerson novel to accept that arranged marriage was a good thing, and that women from that time mostly would have been okay with it. Love comes from being married, but the fleeting feelings of puppy love don't really matter much in a lifelong marriage.
