Achebe details the major events in the story in (literally) one or two sentences. Massive events that would normally have entire chapters dedicated to just a few minutes of the situation. His writing style instead focuses on the things that happen in the months or years after, perhaps to signify that the impetus is not as important as the outcome and internal conflicts that may follow
