Discussing Chapter 2 at a friend’s book discussion group tomorrow!
There are some things I hope Wilkin presses into in this book, but I’m not sure if she gets there—stewarding body well during midlife (the protein & weighted-vest comments irked me) for an effective gospel ministry in later life; difference between appropriately caring for self-externally vs vanity; and others.

“Aging is an invitation into suffering & loss…suffering & loss are skilled teachers”(99).
It’s God who gives the gift of old age. He #s our days before there are any. God gives us exactly what is best for us & what glorifies him most, including the aging process (& every other suffering!). As Sovereign, he gives us the gift of suffering that we may gain a heart of wisdom & grow more into Christ’s image.

I really love going to funerals, I know, that makes me odd. In this book, I appreciate Wilkin’s teasing out of first breath and final breath; and the respective care of life to the very end.
