did NOT wanna pick this back up after the timeskip and POV change lol but I persevered and I'm liking it fine, just not enthralled or anything. I care about Csorwe but more than anything, I want to see her eventual falling out with Sethennai; their relationship is still the most interesting story. The romance is cute but the story feels dislocated from its original purpose even while Csorwe wakens to her past abuse

Interesting. POV is a repressed orc virgin-sacrifice-turned-assassin, a mook to a likely evil wizard that she owes her life to but who is emotionally abusive and is just using her, and she's just helped him take back his home city. That's part 1. I've heard MANY things about the rest of this book lol. The abusive relationship is the frame and so far everything serves that idea rather than "the plot" and I'm liking it
