Man, it seems everyone has their secrets. No wonder Mateo never got a point of view. But I still don't get why Martin and Quincy are here... I mean, Cecilia seemed to help Ellison a little bit but I'd argue and saw that the Markshire cousins didn't need to exist in this story. Still, we're nearing the end and the story's been pretty enjoyable.

What a load. Okay, color me impressed. There were some things I predicted but others I never saw coming. And it seems Whitaker and Ellison might actually care about their exiled brother? But did Xavier know the truth about Lyric before he was murdered? Or could that have been another reason?

Well... That explains a lot. Seems Esther Olivia Merrybright had a special "ability" of her own. And it also seems that Lyric might be softening up to Mullory. But who could have been compelled to do the act? Was it Lyric? Was it Whitmaker? Someone else?

What happened to Mullory's mom? Was she compelled by Lord Thorn or Blade to burn down her home and run away? And it's no wonder Lyric is so bitter. And did Saffron cheat on her husband Lawrence? And why are Quincy and Martin even here? They don't even have proper points of view. I'd argue and say there's almost too many characters...

Lyric seems to be extremely salty. He seems to be the one with the most to lose if he doesn't get Xavier's inheritance. But why was he taking so long to get to the Mystery Royale? And why are his cousins Celicia, Quinbby and Martin here? Most strange indeed...

We have some interesting plot points in play. Whitaker seems to be poised to inherit his father's firemaking magic. Ellison, his twin sister, seems to be the candidate for inheriting her mother's magic. (Whatever it is.) While Lyric was supposed to be gifted Xavier's estate (and presumably his magic too). But why would he go back on his word? Why invite Mateo and Mallory? And what of this council? So many questions.

Well, the family tree is a little hard to read, but otherwise I don't have any complaints so far. I like it! Poor Mallory. Just lost half her breakfast...
