I always love when the families come together and we see their dynamics. This scene with Dathan, Asahel, and their mom feels so rich to me! In the argument, you can both see Asahel and their mom’s point of views. And this is one of my favorite ways to write arguments because readers struggle to choose a side!

Also, Dathan reacting to Zair calling him “mo naen” is one of the cutest things to write and read! He’s such a goner for his wife 😭
The endearments like Mo Naen are accurate to my language. Some are made up, like Mo Soyya. But then when I was checking my Edo language for endearments, they were so beautifully written and with the sweetest meanings, that I used them precisely!

(So close to the end🥹) While it looks like ANOFS has a clean ending, I’ve woven quite a bit—especially in these ending pages—that’ll be explored in Book 5! The tale of the Wraith King using his children for rituals might sound foreign to Western readers, but in Africa, the darker religions do this quite frequently

Dathan’s quote about Arno always moves my whole heart.💝💝 Dathan, Zair, and Arno are a love triangle, but not the expected kind, if that makes sense. I wanted the tension, but I also knew Dathan & Zair were endgame. Zair is also not the kind of person who wavers in her affection once she gives it to someone, and for a girl who's very guarded it’s clear that the first man she loves will be her last

I always love writing about the Sarqiians in battle. Their beastly power is always magnificent. The imagery is always so deliciously dark 🤤

In case you didn’t already guess, Prince Arsene and Tabitha’s marriage story is heavily inspired by Jacob, Rachel, and Leah’s story in the Bible!
Also, the meeting of the soulmates is one of my absolute favorites in the series! It’s so special to me!
(I’ve left a couple of other notes on my blog post that I didn’t put here!)
