Also the footnotes, I’m very picky when used, it’s not too bad here but again it feels like they just couldn’t kill their darlings in the edit and crammed everything in one way or another

This is getting good! I will say it’s quite cumbersome with the over-explaining as if the author doesn’t trust us to get the point unless it’s spelt out for us. That, with the addition of the regular meandering from the point it can get tiring and slow down the pacing…

Thoughts so far…
1) hate that it’s set during COVID
2) Micro gripe here but I could tell this wasn’t written by a mixed race author for the way the mixed character character talks about her brother being the perfect split between her parents - I know a lot of us feel irked by similar comments
3) WHY DID SHE CLEAN UP EVIDENCE THAT COULD LEAD TO FINDING HER DAD WTF
