I like the worldbuilding so far. It is different from The Giver. I hope we don’t lose it when I get to the next book.

Maybe this book is a prequel to The Giver, showing how often humans made bad choices. But there is still goodness and love, like between Kira and her mom or Kira and Matt.

The title makes sense to me now lol

Okay so Thomas’s parents were 100% killed by the guardians, right?

Impetuous- passionate, powerful, strongly felt

How could there be such a distance between Kira’s life and the technology of the village and that of the Edifice? Like the building has indoor plumbing and in the village, no one has enough to eat ??
