This reminds me of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, though both are set in different period. North & South is set during Industrial Revolution while Tidelands is set during the English Civil War . Both stories emphasised the hardship and severe condition of the working and lower class. But I found the love parts in here feel flat and unconvincing. But overall I’ve been liking it so much.
