I started the book thinking it might be some sort of girl boss take, but absolutely not. It's like Egyptian Game of Thrones but with less graphic sex and violence. It's a work of fiction but the author's take is grounded and within the realm of plausibility of how all these power-hungry people actually behaved. She is also not afraid to make Nefertiti a complex figure and highly unlikable at times. It's been a pleasant surprise!
Oh, and I also want to savor Akhenaten's fall. Never cared for this Pharoah. 😅
