I bought this tome of a book mainly for the "Timaeus" chapter, which was recommended as essential for my exploration of Middle Platonism. One thing I was struck by is the familiarity of the shared parenting referenced on page 1033. Which makes perfect sense, given that Aldous Huxley was directly influenced by Plato and the classical utopian tradition of "The Republic" when writing "Brave New World."

Platonism: the blueprint for the most destructive of isms. No wonder Western society is buggered. A bunch of entitled, pretentious, self-obsessed narcissists discussing managing people’s lives and opportunities based on class, and their morally repugnant willingness to ingest and accept a heavily doctored version of education. You can see why the ruling and academic elite froth at the mouth for such rhetoric.
