SETTING: The setting of the book The War That Saved My Life is in London around the 1940's or 50's. I know this because the book takes place during the world war 2 and the main character, Ada has to move to London because her hometown might get bombed. In the scene where she has to move to London, shes crammed in a bus for hours and shes starving. from what I understand it was very stressful.

PROTAGONIST: The protagonist of the book is Ada, a 9-10 year old girl living with a foster mother during the war. I know she is the protagonist because the whole story is from her point of view. An example from the book is " Jamie was practicing his letters at the table in the evening after the dishes were washed. I sat down at my place and watched him." This quote shows that its coming from Ada's point of view.

I think the genre of the book " THE WAR THAT SAVED MY LIFE" is historical fiction. It takes place in world war two which is a historical event. In the book, characters often mention real life historical figures such as Hitler. Although the book has historically accurate events the story is fiction. The story could have happened but its not historically proven, making this book historical fiction.
