The summer I turned pretty takes place in Massachusetts, though the place they stay is called, "Cousins beach". The place does not actually exist in Massachusetts. Jenny Han chose that name of the area they stay at in Massachusetts. The characters stay at cousins beach house with all the cousins this is why Belly and other characters call the place cousins beach in the book.They go over to cousins beach every summer.

P.O.V- In the summer I turned pretty the P.O.V is coming from the 1st person narrator. I know this because the main character is Belly but she is also the narrator. I can tell this because the narrator uses words like "I" showing that the narrator is a character in the book. I know Belly is the 1st person narrator because in the book she always tells how she feels coming from herself.

PROTAGONIST: In the summer I turned pretty there is only one main character. The main character is Belly. Belly is also the narrator in the book. In the book she often says as the narrator how she is feeling or things she wants to do. As her being the main character she tells her story of her growing up and how her love life was and is now. In the book Belly talks as a first person voice.

Belly explained too how she used to think Conrad was the love of her life. Romance and drama are because there is romance with Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad and the drama is all between them when both Jeremiah and Conrad start to like Belly.
