my favourite part about Morrisons writing is that she writes full-fledged characters and builds lived-in worlds; the intertwining of characters and the community, all stories are somehow connected (for good or bad)

and to discover those dynamics and relations chapter by chapter, paragraph by paragraph keeps me lingering (even or especially when the events are painful, heart-wrenching and cruel, leaving me in tears)

what will i take away from Morrisons The Bluest Eye: it’s the pain and abuse that stains, yet we must hold onto the glimmer and sweetness of innocence that she writes - it is a whole life lived in a world where people are flawed and dealt different sets of cards

there is good and evil, but we must not forget evil can turn good… and much worse good can turn evil
