I've tried a bunch of more modern fantasy series and I did not enjoy them. I was starting to think maybe there's no chance of new fantasy to have the same charm and pull I felt growing up. But i feel it with Jade City. I love the character work and how it drives the world building. The commentary on power and masculinity and family is excellent.
