The Walls decided to go live with Rex's odd family in Welch. Jeanette describes it as a terrible place but the Walls stay optimistic nonetheless. "'Life is a drama full of tragedy and comedy,' Mom told me. 'You should learn to enjoy the comic episodes a little more.'" (Walls 129). I think that Jeanette is going to try and leave Welch by herself because her parents unfortunately do not plan on it anytime soon.

The Walls family takes pride in the simpler things rather than an extravagant, fancy lifestyle. “We laughed about all the kids who believed in the Santa myth and got nothing for Christmas but a bunch of cheap plastic toys. ‘Years from now, when all the junk they got is broken and long forgotten,’ Dad said, ‘you'll still have your stars.” (Walls 41). I have a prediction this belief of theirs will start to fade.
