Flat out just skimmed/skipped over the Lenz animal stuff, really don’t see a need for DFW to include those details. Read a chapter synopsis instead, unfortunately that was just as bad. Probably the first time I’ve ever done this with a book, don’t care tho

Don Gately AA section is probably the most uncomfortable I’ve felt while reading any kind of fictive literature since The Road, which was years ago. Dense, depressing, disturbing, dogged. This is not a comment on my opinion of the novel and whether that opinion is now raised or lowered, but rather something I just couldn’t say nothing about.
