SETTINGS: This takes place in the ocean, of the 2000s. The current scene are the whales gathered around each other discussing where to get the salmon for the soon to be newborn. "Mother's baby will come any day now,......And the salmon we need to eat are coming here." (p.63). They traveled under a large steamboat.

The book is going well so far, the whales are recovering from an earthquake. They are making a plan to find the required number of salmon for the newborn coming soon.

GENRE: This book is for young adults, or middle school ages. The main genre is adventure, challenges, usually how a marine animal "seas" the ocean. This is the genre because the book A Whale of the Wild is based on a group of whales and it is going in between perspectives of the whales lives, and how their roles apply to the story.

The group of whales encountered a big boat, casting a shadow over their path, they all cannot hear each other because of the loud boat horn. The boat passes, and they are all relieved.
