Really gripping so far! What fascinates me most is how the novel shows the role that the Germans' deep-rooted deference to authority played in the unfolding disaster. Both the Kripo and the military retreat behind the same excuse: they were just doing their jobs. It's chilling to watch how this mindset allows injustice to grow unchecked. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here.
