I really liked the depth and emotion in this whole scene, especially this paragraph: "Burying my face in my hands, I tried to stop the voices inside my head. I wanted to scream. To turn back time. To do things differently. I felt the familiar tightening of my chest and I dug my fingers into the muck, trying to catch my breath. No, I told myself. Breathe.
