chapter xii: dickens's depiction of women is too much (pip's sister, miss havisham, estella). it is funny to conceive of it as the representation of pip's perception, otherwise 💀 and it's not even about it being outdated, it's really just so freakishly reductive it's funny but also not

chapter xi: so improbable! so many peculiar characters and an unreliable child narrator whose imagination it is tough to extricate from the reality of his story. very funny too.

have i successfully gaslit myself into enjoying this or am i but at the moment of departure, the curious tingle of the unknown illuminating my present moment; a few words to come? oh boy, pip realises he is poor and is ashamed for it. the great expectations ship has sailed
