Everything happened so fast. The story felt ruched and I had a feeling that the author wanted to have so much magic and creatures in it that they are just stacked on top of each other with no real reason. I would have much rather seen a slower storytelling and more in depth timeline; it could easily been 2 or more books from just this story.
