I’ve been reading this with the kids. It makes me sad that kids don’t learn to recite poetry at primary school like I did when I was a child in Scotland. I wonder if it still happens there - the Burns, Blake and Stevenson?? Of course this book was not made with this hemisphere in mind, so we are following the seasons in another land and we are totally ok with that!

Gayle, you reminded me of my childhood! My mother used to read a lot of poetry, and when I was little, I kept saying that as soon as I learned to read, I was going to read those poems too. I’d really set my mind on it in that very childish way. I can’t remember the poet now, but I do know they were love poems. Then my sister started reading them too, and I was so jealous because I wanted to be able to read them as well, haha. When I finally learned to read, one of the first things I did was pick up that poetry book, and I was so disappointed! These were the poems I’d been so excited to read all that time?! 😅
