Amazing detail - I have trouble believing he cut this work down to its current monumental size! Also, I'm amazed at how bacward western Europe was to Asia Minor and the Moslem world during the last centuries of the first millenium. AND, after giving 15+ pages to Dante, he almost totally ignores Chaucer!!!!
