It's also a shame that there are no actual works of which Amano talks about, for instance, the character design sheets for animators. It would be super interesting to see the original designs vs final version. It's a shame the illustrations are not well identified as Amanos' and leave us to guessing work.

Although incredibly gifted it's also interesting to realize Amano spent not only most of his time drawing but also that his first contract (yet as a child) was half-way due to chance and a rising industry. It would be incredibly interesting to see his sketches if he still had any, and a disappointment that this book holds none.

For a biography (art artbook) this is a dissapointing one. It feels very impersonal and it contains snipets of interviews with added paragraphs that say absolutely nothing else. It's honestly a shame for an incredibly pricey book.

I was not expecting this book to be a biography but, as a biography, this interviewer is very disappointing. The images seem scattered, the text is just snippets of interviews, even though it allows us to glance at Y.A.'s life, it feels very disjointed and impersonal.
