Thrill is added to thrill. I found the hero's solo mission, including how he counted the minutes, to be credible and inspiring.

By law, the only form of business that Jews were allowed to do was moneylending. This supposedly shameful kind of work had to be done by someone, so the Jews were forced to do it.

Those stereotypes about Jews being greedy or miserly were part of the same Anti-Semitic cruelty. Undeserved. Disgusting.

If you didn't know about this, there are plenty of websites that will tell you the truth.

This is tne most Anti-Semitic writing I have seen anywhere, let alone a novel.

If Marcus Sakey ever, ever!, writes more in this vein, I will boycott him as an author.

Much as I love this book, and plan to finish it, one thing has really shocked.

A minor character runs a sweatshop where Brilliants work for the sweatshop owner in a truly exploitative relationship. A cruel and mercenary relationship.

We learn in detail about his greed and cruelty. He is referred to by his last name, a recognizably Jewish name.

Another main character can walk through crowds as though invisible.

Back in the day, while doing the TM Sidhi Program, one of the sutras I'd do was for INVISIBILITY. I sure never came close to what is described, in believable detail, in this book.

I'm fascinated by the author's descriptions of different ways of perceiving life, and accomplishing things, as a "Twist." An "Abnorm." Part of a generation of ultra-smart people.

The main character, Cooper, is superb at reading people through minute changes to how they hold their bodies.

I wish the book weren't so violent, but I put up with that to learn about others.
