Eren and Mikasa seeing the survey corps come back all battered and bruised, only 20 survivors making it back, and then Braun’s mother getting a piece of her son’s uniform and saying “But…my son…was useful to you wasn’t he?” Really hammers home the fallout of war. A theme that’ll be constant throughout the series.
