Honestly loving Maia’s character trait of constantly berating himself for his ignorance and comparing himself uncharitably to people who have grown up in this environment… but also occasionally snapping at people who underestimate his intelligence or ability (correctly or not, I’m suspecting). It’s very human!

No wonder tumblr loves this book it’s about somebody being thrown into a social situation with a lot of rules they only half know and extreme amounts of scrutiny for even the slightest mistake or misstep, and the consequences can be deadly
