Ertai's Tale was the best yet. He's so self-aggrandizing to the point of absurdity, to the point that it should be annoying but somehow comes out the other end and is both stupidly charming and funny.

I really hate that so many interesting parts are brushed aside as these "A Dark Room" sections. The section about Starke and Maraxus was cinematic and deserved to be told in full.

The descriptions of the Skyshroud Forest in "Hanna's Tale" were eerie and obviously alien. Horner did a good job matching the strange depictions on the cards and driving home the dreamlike atmosphere. Hanna's backstory and the connection she formed with Mirri were interesting. I wish the dialogue was a little better, particularly when characters recap things that just happened. Those latter moments felt unnecessary.

Tahngarth's Tale was better than what came before. It's a little awkward to read, but I get that that's Tahngarth's voice. Ending seemed a little rushed. I really appreciated the worldbuilding of Llanowar.

Gerrard's Tale was... fine? Lots of details are lacking, but it's also not that long. A short story of Tactical Espionage Action that wasn't a great way to start this anthology off after the meta-narrative, which continues to be very whatever. It's not horrible; it's just so-so.

The meta narrative is way too goofy. It doesn't do a good job setting up the story. It's written like I've already heard the setup, but I'm reading this story to... experience the story? This is a very messy start.
