I didn’t see this comparison made in reviews, so I’m pleasantly surprised to be finding this similar to Jonathan Safran Foer!
It’s got whimsical and fun narration sprinkled with sophisticated prose, it’s historical fiction-y, and it’s able to recount a tragic historic event with such detail and specificity that makes it emotionally impactful.
I’m really liking it so far!
