A prominent symbol throughout Hunger Games Catching Fire is the the mocking jay, it represents freedom, and rebellion. "I am the mocking jay. The one that survived despite the Capitol's plans. The symbol of the rebellion," (Colins 76). It is seen as bird to almost all, however to Katniss throughout the book it appears as a sign of resistance. This encouraged her to begin the rebellion and stand up against the rules.
