Ivich as a character, to me, seems plagued by worry but also sumptuous in her ability to enjoy her surroundings and objects with a kind of sensuality that Mathieu appears contemplate. He describes being able to think about what Ivich feels of these things but has never felt or experienced objects and surroundings in the same way. Only from a distance and a somewhat detached perspective.
