PROTAGONIST: The main protagonists of the story are both Nick and Marta. Nick is a 7th grader in Mrs. Starch's class who just wants to get by. He is kind to those he cares about, and he perseveres in his investigation about Mrs. Starch. The other protagonist is Marta, another student in Mrs. Starch's class, whom she fears greatly. She can be sarcastic sometimes but is mostly kind.
