The protagonist is a dog named Bailey. Bailey discovers that the neighborhood antagonist, Todd, has set fire to Ethan's family home. Bailey fiercely attacks Todd to fight him off, then bravely helps wake and evacuate the family. Ethan suffers a severe leg injury jumping from a second-story window, but Todd is eventually apprehended by police thanks to Bailey's bite and the resulting in blood.
