Herland had some promise in the beginning. But honestly it read like a eugenics fanfic:/ was very mid, hopefully the short stories feature less Nazi propaganda😭. I’m not joking either… the ladies of Herland in charlottes words “are of Aryan defendants”, but then again I have to keep in mind when this was written. So I can see why her works are important feminism wise.

So far, I’m finding myself enjoying Herland! With a through line… charlotte was a massive supporter of eugenics. Calling the Amazonian natives as “savages” and the colony of herland itself is starkly white. Other than that take the book itself is funny, witty and very anti-patriarchal!
