Easy to read if not always delightful. The protagonist, Charles Ryder, now Captain Charles Ryder, continues to reminisce about years ago. He states that in college he fretted because he was down to his last 100 pounds in allowance from his (whacked) father. I translated the value of those "100 pounds" into 2025 U.S. dollars. It comes to $7,900! And Charles, by his telling, is one of his 'poorer' school chums? Huh?

So far the protagonist, a WWII soldier in the UK and his platoon, has come across the Brideshead mansion, which 20 years ago he had quite a fling with. The 85 years old writing is a tad difficult and the odd names the English use for stuff causes many look-ups. But it's an easy enjoyable read, unlike the insane (literally) writing of Virginia Woolf.
