Juho Pohjalainen’s Reviews > Daemonslayer > Status Update

I'm rather more noticing the repetitive writing on this re-read. Felix knows in almost every fight how he's going to die. But he will never die. Games Workshop won't allow it.

I think I'd have liked to see less weird Chaos city and more airship repairs.

Never cared for this romance in the first place, and care even less about it now that I know how it ends. A pink whirlwind fling is what it was. Not at all like with Kirsten, which is ironic because that was just a short story and therefore should've had even less time to figure things out, but it felt more real regardless.

I like Gotrek's attitude to this quest. The ship will crash, everyone's doomed to a fate worse than death in the Chaos Wastes, there's no hope and you're all idiots... but you'd have to kill him to keep him out of the action. Proper death-seeker.

Varek is a natural-born slayer. It's his first battle, there's blood and guts and explosions, and he just laughs it off.

It might even foreshadow his eventual death, though I rather doubt the author was thinking that far ahead.

Given how iconic slayers are in the setting, it's hard to imagine a time when humans would not know to be careful around a dwarf with a red mohawk. And now there's two of them.
