I absolutely love how, 6 books in, we suddenly go all non-linear.
We basically never see what actually happens, but only hear:
-Age-old prophecies that foretold it, that are all quite vague
-"Random" people talking about it later, probably making half of it up.
or, my favourite
-Archeologists drawing false conclusions centuries after the fact

Best opener of a Witcher book so far-
Also one of the only times I've enjoyed a character "retelling" the events of a book, as they're so interesting I don't care that I know who survives and who doesn't.
(Although, this might be a thing for the whole franchise, as I've played the games, which happen AFTER The books...)
