Belly thinks about her relationship with Conrad and how different it's been since Susannah's death. Belly starts to spend more time with Jeremiah because he is more open with her. Conrad and Jeremiah aren't on the best terms either. Belly thinks, "Jeremiah didn't make any more moves to talk to Conrad, and no one mentioned school or Mr. Fisher" (Han 125). I think the brothers will make up and get on better terms.

So far in this book, Belly is dealing with the loss of Susannah who was like a second mom to her. Belly says, "I wore my old glasses to the funeral, the ones with the red plastic frames" (Han 29). Belly is reminiscing while getting ready for the funeral. I think it's very sad that Susannah died and its tough on the kids. I think Belly will get over this sadness and find goodness in her life.
