Nearly finished with the book but somehow, i dont know why, it failed to connect with me. I found that the events (and how Poirot discovered them) were just unnecessarily complicated. Compared with Niles - that one is much more concise and logical - this one just isnt so. Maybe because this was Christie's first attempt, so maybe she felt like she had to make something really grand?

btw, anytime a crime is concluded by finding a "confession" type of letter, my eyes would roll 10 times and lose interest.

This book didnt manage to grab my attention early on like "Nile"; it is only now, past half of the book, did I feel more interested.

The hardest part of any Christie novels for me is to get pass that setup & character introduction phase.
This book is her first novel, and here we can see Poirot for the first time. It's why the book also takes it time to let the readers know more about Poirot's personalities...
