We meet Marjane in 1980 where she sees her life transform from a free childhood to a limit filled childhood where she now needs to wear a veil and battles through conversations with God at night. She learns of her grandfather being a prince and the loss suffered due to the Shah. Marjane’s parent revolt and participate daily in protests and fights for freedom to the point her mother was photographed for newspapers.
