i like how persuasive the narrator voice is and how it takes me, the reader, on a cinematic journey around the world, from innuits to africa to russia to italy and so on, however, it's kinda sus with how much conviction the author tells what people in places such and such were doing. how does he know.
in the words of johnny depp, my dude - where you there?

so if the soul leaves the body thru the mouth while eating and drinking, makes sense why K has mine. he stole it, little by little, at all those meals we shared over the years.

The ablest man is dragged down by the weakest and dullest, who necessarily sets the standard, since he cannot rise, while the other can fall. -- The surface of such a society presents a uniform dead level, so far as it is humanly possible to reduce the natural inequalities, the immeasurable real differences of inborn capacity and temper, to a false superficial appearance of equality.

the adonis of hedonis son of penis in the shrine of whachamacallinis ...huh. i am, i confess, very shallowly educated in antiquity. difficult to track all them characters of that multiverse.

"the indians africans scots and other savages" lol. there's also, unsurprisingly, a lot of racism in this.
